Spring 2012 – Sengoku Collection

Another anime very loosely based on the Sengoku Warring Period in Japanese history.

Yes, they're all females.

And so a female Oda Nobunaga gets transported to present day Japan (that’s pretty much the theme of the show), and she falls down from the sky right smack on a guy.

Usual plot device.

Well, one thing leads to another, and Nobunaga makes this guy into her temporary retainer, seeing as she doesn’t know anything about this world.

I think the guy is a one-and-done deal for the series.

He eventually obliges and he takes her home, setting up the venue for some fanservice…

What else is new?

Anyway, he takes her around town the next day…

She's coping rather well.

… where she eventually sees a shrine and prays to it. Her wish is simply to be able to return to her original world, else she’ll burn down the shrine. Well, she’s not called a devil for nothing. Anyway, the goddesses / shrine maidens (not sure which exactly) of the shrine decides to show up that evening and grant her wish.

A rabbit, a fox and a cat.

But Nobunaga needs to collect some magical spheres for her to be able to return, and in order to collect that she needs to search for the other generals of the Sengoku period who got transported to the modern world, since each one carries one of these spheres. And so begins her quest for her way back home.

Uhm... Okay...

Seems rather generic to be honest. It has a typical theme, plot and gimmick. I’m not exactly sure how it plans to distinguish itself from all the rest of Sengoku period adaptation and gender bending anime. It has largely been done, even the heroes-from-the-past-transported-to-the-present thing. But at least the ecchiness isn’t over the top. However, I’d still prefer it if there was a male character in the mix. That would have at least qualified this show among my staple harem-action-ecchi genre.

Rating: 5.5/10

Points to Note: I wonder why Nobunaga is the main character.
