So how did Otaku Ako start? It was the summer of 2009 when tzia_n attended Ozine Fest 2009, his first ever Anime convention. This event triggered the creation of Otaku Ako.
Before that, tzia_n was already a big fan of Anime and the likes, and was considerably an otaku already. However his exposure to the otaku world came only from the international scene: from the various scanlations and their group, fansubs and their groups, and also from Animesuki. Ozine Fest 2009 made him wonder why he never knew of these events.
The answer he came up with was that there was a lack of centralized source of information for everything otaku in the Philippines. If there was one, it wasn’t very well known. So tzia_n came about with an idea of making such a website.
So he asked cvhaoson, a good friend of his and the one who told him about Ozine Fest 2009, if he knew of such a website. Since they both didn’t know of any, they set about to create this website in the form of this blog. Then they contacted bossmac, a friend of cvhaoson who was also interested in the idea.
Then on April 19, 2009, Otaku Ako was born.
