The man of the hour!
You can see him in various conventions doing his zany antics such as the epic pelvic thrusts of doom or the signature WOOOH~ SAY SAY SAY SAY! screams. The local version of the famous RAZOR RAMON SUMITANI– a.k.a. Hard Gay of Japan, has not only won the weird looks of those who are not familiar to the personality but also the amusement and respect of the cosplay community for being such a resemblance to the character he protrays.
It is of great honor for us here in Otaku Ako to get our first ever cosplayer in focus interview to one of the biggest and most well-loved personalities in the cosplay scene, HardGay PH!
Otakuako: What made you start cosplaying as HG?
HGph: My friends have been making video skits –their local version of jackass, and decided to have someone dress as Hg.. out of 5 selections from our group, I was picked.. destiny~hooOO!!!

Otakuako: This is a burning question to those who don’t know you personally, is the person behind the HG cosplay hard gay in real life?
HGph: Say!say!say! no, the man behind the tight, black, leather restraints is not gay…
Otakuako: How do prepare getting yourself in character? Do you chant “I am HG, I am HG…” a million times before donning the costume?
HGph: Haha.. hmm… no, i feel that HG sumitani possesses me at some point, I get a rush when I remember how happy he makes people with his antics..
Otakuako: What was the toughest challenge you faced when you first transformed into HG?
HGph: Coming up with a new material, hg is just… too HG!!! ~HoooOOO!! Nothing new for HG really..
Can you do this?
Otakuako: What were the things going through your mind when you first cosplayed as HG?
HGph: Will they like me? Will they like this? Oohhh they like this –oohhh they like me ~hooOOO!!! (then I realize its just the costume really –it has powers!)
Otakuako: Is your chiselled body due to you cosplaying HG or you already had that before becoming HG? How do you maintain that oh-so yummy (according to our female friends) body that you showcase on cons?
HGph: Haha.. I was never in shape!! (at least the body that I wanted) I try to be fit, I wanted to join century tuna, maybe next year nalang.. ive been joining local pageants and shows here and there. =))
Otakuako: What made you stick to your HG character when the usual trend in cosplaying is that you change characters (as much as possible) every other con?
HGph: People want and get THAT variety, but nobody sports HG because it’s the costume’s revealing nature –actually, that discourage real guys from using HG… so I continue to go as hg for the people who decide to try new characters.. may sense ba? Sorry ha? Grammar errors! Say!

Otakuako: Did you cosplay other characters before HG? Will you be cosplaying as other characters in the future?
HGph: I want to try XERXES, cause I think it fits my profile.. haha.. but then again I cant go without a cool leonidas or a group of true Spartans! Hehe… HG nalang from time to time! Ive got 2 more years anyway =))
Otakuako: What was the craziest fan story you can share to us here in Otaku Ako? Have you had the experience of con goers either giving you their numbers or that they throw something intimate to?
HGph: I met a girl once, haha.. I thought she was the serious type.. turns out she’s as crazy as cosplay! Hmm… naughty naughty

Otakuako: What’s cosplaying to you? Is it just a mere hobby or is it something that you can say is part of your life now?
HGph: Cosplaying (event) It’s one place where you can be yourself and feel one with the character, irregardless of what people may think of you.. id say its both: a hobby and a part of life.. and that’s a fact if you want to go deep; you know, society groups and stuff. =))
Otakuako: I heard you do have a gf, what does your girlfriend’s say on you cosplaying as HG?
HGph: wala naman, ok lang sa kanya… hehe
Otakuako: Would you be willing to give up cosplaying HG if your girlfriend asks you to stop? Why or Why not?

HGph: Yes.. its because… oh I don’t know.. she’s here na now e, I cant type.. haha
Otakuako: Why are you willing to drop cosplaying if you did say that cosplaying is a part of you now? (this is a follow-up question if you did say that cosplaying is a part of your life)
HGph: life is all about change, and it goes on.. if something should be a part of my life, I could use it or shed it off.. so to be brief on this: because love is greater than pride.. romantic HG ~HooOOOO!!!
