Events Archive: Metro Comic Con 2011

No pictures from me since my camera is still being fixed. No pictures at all from my photographer friends since none of them showed up. Yes, I’m a very lonely guy… ^_^”

Anyway, just some quick thoughts on the event:

  • Seems like they opened late on the first day, since there was still a long line during lunch hours.
  • Lots of graphic novels on sale ^___^ Too bad not much on the manga side of things.
  • Indie comics!!! Well, I got too lazy to buy some.
  • Hey, the illustrator of V for Vendetta is their special guest. Cool!
  • Wait, Nyoy Volante is there? Huh?
  • Metro Comic Con, seriously, STOP BOMBARDING THE AUDIENCE WITH YOUR SPECIAL EFFECTS SMOKE. It’s suffocating.
  • When you’re doing your catwalk, grabbing the mic almost always result into a failure (~90% chance).
  • Best catwalk: Enteng Kabisote vs Agimat. EPIC.
  • I now propose that Gay Lantern be made an official Philippine Cosplay Meme.
  • Best cosplay I saw: Bloody Alice. Wow, just wow~
  • Pulling off a Sentai cosplay is almost always a win. I wonder why…
  • I saw *that* Yu-Gi-Oh cosplayer again. I swear, cosplay events would be missing something if he didn’t show up. He’s like staple there.
  • I think, in general, the strength of Filipino cosplay is in props making. We’re generally poor in characterization, as well as in accuracy of looks. Let’s face the facts, not everyone can pull off looking like the characters.
  • GOTHIC LOLITA IS NOT COSPLAY. KTHXBAI.
  • Got the best seat in the house in front of the stage, but no camera :(
  • No piracy = less booths. Let’s face the sad facts…

So yeah, it was fun in its own way. I’ll still go to next year’s anyway.
