The Best of Anime wasn’t exactly the best of anime conventions. But I guess it’ll do.
The convention wasn’t really trying to do anything new, nor was it trying to innovate anything. It is exactly what you’d expect from a convention. Now, this can either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.
The only thing I noticed to be a bit different is that there were a good number of video game related booths which allow con-goers to play a bit for free. At least from what I know it’s free. Oh and the programs ended early, to my surprise.
With regard to the venue, I still like SMX. Although the function hall isn’t exactly big, the grounds on the second floor is plenty enough for con-goers and cosplayers to play around with. This is really good, since people can’t help but spill over to nearby areas, and at least with SMX, con-goers and security won’t have to kill each other…
Thank you for patronizing Comic Alley…
As for cosplayers, well, nothing really to write about. The notable ones are mostly recycled stuff, so there really wasn’t much to get excited about. Heck, even the cosplay competition had a measly 70+ participants. But if kids are your thing, then maybe you’d like this crop, as there were lots of chibis…
Anyway, off you go to the galleries, since that’s the important bit anyway.

is there any particular reason why you used that mari cosplayer’s picture?
@enigma
No particular reason, just thought it to be interesting.
@tzia_n
