Events Archive: Toy Con 2011

Whoa! ACM was held in Toy Con instead!

Anyway, the pics! Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6 and Part 7

Day 1:

The place was packed. Three halls ain’t enough. Toy Con almost took the entire 5th floor of Mega B. But that’s pretty much expected, so no surprise there. Heck, even the contents (ehem lots of toys) didn’t come as anything shocking.

Oh, by any chance did you see our brother blog’s booth there? If you haven’t be sure to check out Back 2 Gaming‘s booth!

Alodia made an appearance, interestingly enough. The multitude flocked towards her like sheep to the slaughter. I’m serious. It was ridiculous. I have no idea why tons of people would want to converge in a single spot and place themselves to be crushed, elbowed, and all that jazz. Our entire tactic was pretty much… “Nasan si Alodia?” “Nasa kanan.” “Tara, sa kaliwa tayo, iwas tao.” Crazy stuff.

I’m not feeling Cosplay Nation either. I find it weird, so sue me. I’m just not particularly chummy with the idea of commercializing cosplay.

Oh, KIRABOSHI

Day 2:

Still hellishly a lot of people. I wasn’t able to roam inside a lot anymore. In fact, I have absolutely no idea what went on inside XD

Horror stories of Alodia’s “security” are popping up everywhere on the internet. Apparently in an attempt to pave way for her, they’ve been pushing aside people without any care. Heck, it was shared by some folks that they even ended up pushing kids aside, as well as damaging some of the booths. Not a good PR move, Alodia.

It’s a good thing I stayed clear from the get-go.

Oh yeah, I had my first first-hand experience of how odd some of these con-goers are. I was among the group who had a wheelchair with us, since we used it as props. Then there was this, uhm, let’s say “oddball” who approached us and talked to us about the wheelchair. I’m not exactly sure what he wanted, but he kept trying to reference a wheelchair stunt Jack-Ass did about riding a wheelchair either down a ramp or down the stairs. I don’t know if he was trying to make a joke (not a very funny one), trying to convince us to let him try it (pretty stupid), or trying to make us do it to the one using the wheelchair (very jack-ass-like of him in this case, as the one using the wheelchair is a young girl). I was trying to be polite, saying, “Mahirap yan,” and, “Delikado.” Soon enough, he got the cue and left, and later one of my friends told me that it was that guy’s third attempt at it. Maybe I should have been a little less polite ~_~
