Recap:

up-ame-2010-001

True enough, UP AME Track 10 was indeed music-centric in its theme. There were tons of musical performances, as well as various music-related activities. There were so much that it kinda pushed the programs later than what is normally done. That said, the cosplay competition started at about maybe 5:30 PM? So yeah, that means the programs really went into the night…

As for the booths inside, well, same old I guess. Didn’t exactly see anything particularly interesting or mind-boggling. Oh, the people at Otakultura! had their own booth because they were among the media partners of the event. I took a peek at it, but didn’t really try to introduce myself (I’m lazy~). Maybe one day we at Otaku Ako would also become a media partner of one of these events ^___^

The venue was at SMX of MOA, so I’d generally give a thumbs up about this. But there’s just this little problem: turnout.

Hordes and hordes of people came. UP AME absolutely did not expect the sheer amount of people who came. And it didn’t help that SMX was fully booked that day, so it means that the hallways were shared among other people. This is the reason why the place was so overcrowded. Add to that the fact that several people came during the morning even though the event opens at 1 PM.

The overcrowding was so bad that it came to the point that the organizers ran out of tickets, and security decided to stop letting people in the convention center. And note that this happened quite in the middle of the afternoon. This means that tons of people were stuck outside, and they never were able to enter the event.

It’s a sad thing, really, as probably the worst thing you can do as an event organizer is irk the crowd. And I’ll have to say a good number were irked. In any case, I suppose we’ll just let this be a lesson to be learned for us all.

And hey, at least it was no Hero Nation 2009
